But it did not start as a finished output. Imagine the drive of the different people working together to make the final output you are consuming now a reality. Take what you are doing right now and understand that it is becoming real through effort. Use both of these examples – external and internal – as encouragement for your work.

Noticing signs of improvement https://tyinsp.com/noticing-signs-of-improvement/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=noticing-signs-of-improvement https://tyinsp.com/noticing-signs-of-improvement/#respond Wed, 15 Jan 2025 21:18:09 +0000 https://tyinsp.com/?p=130 One of the best ways to know improvement within oneself is by being able to distinguish how similar situations are being handled differently over time. This skill develops when there is a habit of reflection, contemplation, or observation of one’s own behaviors and state of mind. Specific examples of questions that come to mind are:

  • How would the version of myself from last year handle this current situation, and why?; and
  • How is this different than the way I plan to handle it right now, and why?

If there is improvement then the differences start to become obvious.

Cultivating positive outcomes by avoiding bad habits https://tyinsp.com/cultivating-positive-outcomes-by-avoiding-bad-habits/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=cultivating-positive-outcomes-by-avoiding-bad-habits https://tyinsp.com/cultivating-positive-outcomes-by-avoiding-bad-habits/#respond Sun, 12 Jan 2025 22:39:18 +0000 https://tyinsp.com/?p=122 Preventing the development of bad habits from forming is more important than the quick development of good habits. It doesn’t matter what you have to do, just do not under any circumstances develop bad habits. Their adverse consequences will create more work for your positive habits to resolve. So, stay away from the bad habits so that the full credit of your positive habits is going towards cultivating even more positive outcomes.

Regular effort creates positive trends https://tyinsp.com/regular-effort-creates-positive-trends/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=regular-effort-creates-positive-trends https://tyinsp.com/regular-effort-creates-positive-trends/#respond Wed, 08 Jan 2025 16:56:54 +0000 https://tyinsp.com/?p=92 What matters most is the discipline of doing the right thing, doing it well, and doing it on a regular schedule. Results and details will fluctuate depending on the season and context. But they should trend towards being positive outcomes sooner (or later). On the way towards outcomes, keep in mind that the value is being generated through regular effort. Discipline –> value –> results.

One reason I love to edit my writing https://tyinsp.com/one-reason-i-love-to-edit-my-writing/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=one-reason-i-love-to-edit-my-writing https://tyinsp.com/one-reason-i-love-to-edit-my-writing/#respond Sun, 05 Jan 2025 17:14:27 +0000 https://tyinsp.com/?p=79 I love the self-editing process because it helps me generate a feeling that I have done something well. It’s this process where I get to apply scrutiny to the reasoning behind the words and style choices. But that’s not all. I care most about examining my internal reasoning behind my words. I think that’s because checking my internal reasoning is my way to self-assess if what I’m doing is worthwhile. And being confident about the worthiness of what I’m doing is the easiest way for me to take the next step forward.

Crossing out words – an easy way to practice growth https://tyinsp.com/crossing-out-words-an-easy-way-to-practice-growth/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=crossing-out-words-an-easy-way-to-practice-growth https://tyinsp.com/crossing-out-words-an-easy-way-to-practice-growth/#respond Wed, 01 Jan 2025 15:00:42 +0000 https://tyinsp.com/?p=63 Lately, I cross out anything that doesn’t look neat when I write by hand – or meet a standard of feeling like my best. I do this because that line drawn through a word is me acknowledging that a mistake was made. It reminds me that it’s more worthwhile to write in a way that meets the “my best” standard. It shows a willingness to hold myself accountable to a particular standard. Most importantly, it reflects thoughtfulness about what I am doing. The next words that I write are where the opportunity for growth happens.
